The reason I created this blog was an interest I had in my personal past history. My paternal grandmother had a way of preserving items from the past that gives me a glimpse into how life must have been when she was here on earth. She died in 1976 at the grand age of 93, not from natural old age causes, but from a fall down a large staircase at her home which she shared with her aunt. Yes, her aunt was older and I'm not sure of her age at the time my grandmother passed away, but I know she had passed the 100 mark and my guess she was around 102 or 3. When she passed on her age was 107.
As I was going through the many writings: post cards, letters, newspaper clippings, and books I started to feel a sense of awe; awe in that my family at one point was rather large. It appears I may of had 13 Great-Great Aunts and Uncles and 12 Great Aunts and Uncles. The children in my grandmother's family numbered 12 and her mother's siblings numbered 13. Names from various articles were coming at me from right and left and I am having difficulty comprehending or even putting all of this into perspective. This doesn't even cover my paternal grandfather's family; in this area information is minimal. I now face a challenge of preserving all this before it disappears so I can pass this onto my son and my niece and nephews.
I do have a starting point, my Great-Great Grandparents William and Elizabeth Cadman were married in 1856 in Sheffield, England and they moved shortly after that from Mosborough, England to a place called Jefferson, PA. My dad grew up in West Elizabeth, PA and the entire family sprung from this area.
To be continued. . . . . . .
